Support Fund

During the COVID-19 pandemic, La Pine Community Health Center (LCHC) has remained open and fully operational. As we are on the front lines, our priority remains to keep our patients healthy and away from the hospital where they would be further exposed to viruses and infections. We know that now, more than ever, our patients need all of the services and assistance that we are able to provide.

Many of our patients cancelled their appointments early on and avoided care because they were either afraid that they may be exposed to COVID-19 or believed that they could not attend routine or preventative care appointments due to state recommendations. We have communicated with patients and the community in various ways so that they know how to access our services during this time, but our patient schedules were at 20-30% for months. At the same time, we were spending 85% more on personal protective equipment (PPE) than we normally would.

Thankfully, with the receipt of grants from the Federal government, we have been able to remain fully staffed so that we may operate at full capacity and continue to provide all of our services. For us to fulfill our mission, we know that we must be here and be ready when patients need us. We are gradually returning to a sustainable volume of patient appointments, but appreciate any additional assistance as we continue to recover from the effects of the pandemic.

Areas of Need

Operations/COVID-19 Fund
Donations given to this fund will help us compensate for the losses we have experienced thus far and will continue to see in the coming months. We need $350,000 per month, in addition to the grants we are guaranteed to receive, in order to operate.

Transportation Assistance Fund
In an effort to reduce gaps in continuity of care, we utilize the Transportation Assistance fund to provide gas cards or pay for a taxi ride for patients who need help getting to their appointments.
Example: 1 gas card = $25; 1 taxi ride for local appointment = $60; 1 taxi ride for appointment in Bend = $150

Food Voucher Fund
We participate in a food voucher program to provide healthy fruits and vegetables for patients who are working to lose weight for health purposes and/or manage a metabolic medical issue such as Diabetes. The vouchers allow these patients to pay for their fruits and vegetables with a voucher and then we reimburse the grocer from the Food Voucher fund.
Example: 1 food voucher = $25

Prescription Medication Fund
With the Prescription Medication fund, we are able to pay pharmacies directly for medications for patients who are unable to afford them.
Example: average 30 day prescription = $50

Durable Medical Equipment Fund
With the Durable Medical Equipment fund, we have the opportunity to purchase necessary medical supplies for patients who rely on them for day-to-day functions.
Example: compression stockings = $30; nebulizer = $50; shower chair = $80

General Outreach Fund
Donations given to this fund will be applied to whichever fund is experiencing the most need.
